Purpose
The purpose of this study is to explore the roles and function of family in mediating the relationship between depression and quality of life of patients with Parkinson’s disease (PD). Most studies have found that depression is particularly common in patients with PD and further associated with poor quality of life. Family function, as a mediator, is based on a strength orientation perspective that emphasizes not only their responsibilities and risks but also recuperative powers and growth potential.
Methods
Overall 157 adults with idiopathic Parkinson’s disease were enrolled in this study via outpatient clinic and completed a set of assessment to measure depression using BDI, family APGAR questionnaire, and patients’ quality of life using PDQ-8. Hierarchical multiple regression analysis was conducted to examine the mediating role of family APGAR score in the relationship between BDI and PDQ-8.
Results
Patients' depression, gait disturbance, duration of illness, and family function were statistically significant on quality of life. These factors accounted for 60% of the variance in quality of life. Family function has a partial mediating effect on the relationship between depression and quality of life.
Conclusion
Findings from the study suggest that although PD patients' depression impacts their quality of life, by having strong family function, the extent to which depression impacts the quality of life can be favorably mitigated. Additionally, these outcomes have important implications for future model development regarding PD patients.

Purpose
The purpose of this study is to examine the mediating effect of sleep quality in the relationship between academic stress and social network service (SNS) addiction tendency among adolescents.
Methods
The participants were composed of 204 high school students who were enrolled at private schools in Incheon metropolitan city. Data were collected from August 16 to September 10, 2019. The collected data were analyzed using a regression analysis, and SPSS Process Macro was used to test the mediating effect. Results: The direct effect of academic stress on SNS addiction tendency and the indirect effect of academic stress mediated with sleep quality about SNS addiction tendency were statistically significant.
Conclusion
These findings suggest that positive intervention for academic stress and effective intervention program enhancing sleep quality should be provided for adolescents in order to prevent SNS addiction.

Purpose
The purpose of this study is to examine the mediating effect of acculturative stress on the impact of satisfaction with life and career identity on depression among the Vietnamese students enrolled in a language course in Korea.
Methods
A questionnaire survey was conducted to get answers of 225 Vietnamese students enrolled in the language course in a college in Busan. Data were collected from November to December 2018. The Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficients and path analysis using SPSS/WIN 20.0 and Amos 18.0 program.
Results
Acculturative stress was affected by satisfaction with life (β=−.43, p<.001) and career identity (β=−.45, p<.001). Furthermore, depression was affected by acculturative stress (β=.49, p<.001) and career identity (β=−.25, p<.001), but depression was not affected by the satisfaction with life (β=−.15, p=.029). The mediating effect of acculturative stress between two exogenous variables(satisfaction with life and career identity) and depression was proved.
Conclusion
The result of this study suggests that it is necessary to develop an intervention program to reduce the acculturative stress and depression of Vietnamese students enrolled in the language course.

PURPOSE
Music therapy is a non-pharmacological treatment of the behavioral and psychological symptoms. This study was conducted to contribute to the rehabilitation of patients with idiopathic Parkinson's disease in the areas of functionality, emotionality and sociability.
METHODS
The study included 35 participants, aged between 52 and 77 years, who were diagnosed with idiopathic Parkinson's disease (IPD) and reported suffering from depression, chronic illness anticipated stigma, and worrying about quality of life . The patients were recruited from the department of outpatient neurology at School of Medicine, D University in B Metropolitan City. Group music therapy was performed for nine weeks. The results were analyzed by repeated measures ANOVA.
RESULTS
In terms of stigma, there were significant differences between two groups and time (p<.05). Analysis of the interaction between time and service method revealed significant differences (p<.05). Between time, and the interaction between time and service method revealed significant differences in terms of quality of life (p<.05).
CONCLUSION
The results suggest that group music therapy will be effective on the psychosocial well-being of patients with Parkinson's disease living in assisted and independent living communities.
